Don't just stand there... DO SOMETHING!

In the face of the coming disaster, Americans must now come together with courage, compassion and unity and start asking, "How can I help?"

Get Involved Where do I start? What do I do? Who you gonna call?

There are many ways to get involved especially before a disaster strikes (afterwards you may find that it is too late). The whole community can participate in programs and activities to make their families, homes and communities safer from risks and threats. The best formula for ensuring a safer America consists of volunteers, a trained and informed public and increased support of emergency response teams. Individuals must be empowered to lend support.

We can't solve our problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.

Our most pressing problems have been created by a pervasive attitude of inaction, apathy, and fear. Inaction breeds doubt and fear, action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy! Thinking is easy, acting is difficult. Put your thoughts into action, conquer your fear, and MOVE AHEAD!

Here's a short list of suggestions that anyone can use to get started:

  • VOLUNTEER IN YOUR COMMUNITY - Get trained and volunteer with or create a Community Emergency Response Team, learn how to start a Neighborhood Watch to protect your community, and START ONE.
  • GO AND VOTE - Become part of the community planning process. Connect and collaborate with your local City Council and State government. Start voting out the bad ones and voting in the good ones, or run for office yourself. We need accountable government, and YOU are the first step in that direction.
  • JOIN OR START A PREPAREDNESS PROJECT - Find an event or identify local resources, build a team, choose a project, set goals and serve your community by improving the preparedness of your friends, colleagues and neighbors.
  • BE PREPARED! - Make sure you can help meet the needs of your community in times of disaster. Think of others in your local community as well as yourself, and help them get prepared too. They will need your help, and you will need theirs.
This represents only a few of the many ways that individuals and communities can get involved to help lessen, prepare for, respond to and recover from what we already know is coming.

Using the recommended resources that follow below, you will be able to actively participate in real solutions, stay informed, start taking action and begin making a difference TODAY.

Folks, just remember this: You DON'T have to re-invent the wheel here. Better men than you or I have done this groundwork already. Even so, it's also important to remember that everyone will truly benefit from your participation and support.

Just get started!

Oath Keepers - Guardians of the Republic

Oath Keepers is an association of former, retired, and currently serving military, veterans, and peace officers who will fulfill the oath they swore to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Their oath is to the Constitution, not to the politicians, and they will not obey unconstitutional (and thus illegal) and immoral orders, such as orders to disarm the American people or to place them under martial law and deprive them of their ancient right to jury trial.

If you, the American people, are forced to once again fight for your liberty in another American Revolution, you will not be alone. The Oath Keepers will stand with you.

If you are currently in the military, are a veteran, or are a peace officer, please visit the Oath Keepers website and join with them. Oath Keepers use written and video testimony of active duty military, veterans (especially combat vets), and peace officers to reach, teach, and inspire our brothers in arms in the military and police to fulfill their oaths and stand as guardians of the Republic. Their motto... "Not on our watch!"

The National, State, and Local Oath Keeper chapters are ready for your participation.

Get involved with the Oath Keepers - The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association

CSPOA assembles Sheriffs, Peace Officers and Citizens who understand the grave implications of our eroding Constitutional protections. Whether it's an illegal checkpoint violating the 4th Amendment, 2nd Amendment intrusions affecting your defense of your home or family, or ANY other infringement of your freedom, CSPOA is on the front line defending your rights and Liberty.

"We will take America back, Sheriff by Sheriff, County by County, State by State."
    - Sheriff Richard Mack

This statement is the driving force and mission behind CSPOA. Sheriffs and Peace Officers are the last line of defense standing between the overreaching Federal Government and your Constitutionally guaranteed rights. Across the nation, we are all witnesses to the Federal Government's blatant intrusions. We must draw a firm line in the sand which will not be crossed.

CSPOA will not back away from that line, it is our duty to preserve individual Liberty at all costs and we are not intimidated by the powers that be. Sheriffs and Officers who follow the Constitution line by line possess the power to shield against the Federal assault on American Citizens rights. OUR protection from THEM is our responsibility and mission.

The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association has been formed to unite all public servants and sheriffs, to keep their word to uphold, defend, protect, preserve, and obey the Constitutions of the United States of America.

The American Center for Law and Justice

The American Center for Law and Justice

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) is an organization dedicated to the defense of constitutional liberties secured by law.

Founded in 1990 with the mandate to protect religious and constitutional freedoms, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) engages legal, legislative, and cultural issues by implementing an effective strategy of advocacy, education, and litigation that includes representing clients before the Supreme Court of the United States and international tribunals around the globe.

As ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow continued to build his legal and legislative team, the ACLJ experienced tremendous success in litigating cases at all levels of the judiciary - from the federal district court level to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Over the last two decades, Jay Sekulow has appeared before the Supreme Court of the United States on numerous occasions, successfully arguing precedent-setting cases before the high Court. Here are just a few examples:

  • Protecting the free speech rights of pro-life demonstrators.
  • Safeguarding the constitutional rights of religious groups to have equal access to public facilities.
  • Ensuring that public school students could form and participate in religious organizations, including Bible clubs, on campus.
  • Guaranteeing that minors could participate in the political process by protecting their free speech rights in the political setting.

Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the ACLJ's work reaches across the globe. In addition to its religious liberties work, the ACLJ also focuses on constitutional law involving the issues of national security, human life, marriage, judicial nominations, pornography, and protecting patriotic expression such as our National Motto and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Gun Owners of America (GOA)

Gun Owners of America (GOA)

Gun Owners of America is a non-profit lobbying organization formed in 1975 to preserve and defend the Second Amendment rights of gun owners. GOA sees firearms ownership as a freedom issue. From state legislatures and city councils to the United States Congress and the White House, GOA represents the views of gun owners whenever their rights are threatened. GOA has never wavered from its mission to defend the Second Amendment - liberty's "freedom teeth", as George Washington called it.

Over the last 30 years, GOA has built a nationwide network of attorneys to help fight court battles in almost every state in the nation to protect gun owner rights. GOA staff and attorneys have also worked with members of Congress, state legislators and local citizens to protect gun ranges and local gun clubs from closure by overzealous government anti-gun bureaucrats.

GOA has helped get strong, constitutional judges both appointed and confirmed to the federal bench. And with your help, GOA will continue to successfully defend the rights of gun owners in the courts.

Strength comes with numbers, and the more concerned Americans join Gun Owners of America, the more we can do to protect the Second Amendment and our freedom. We need you! Shouldn't you become a member of Gun Owners of America?

Texans for Accountable Government

Texans for Accountable Government (TAG)

Texans for Accountable Government (TAG) is a trans-partisan Political Action Committee headquartered in Central Texas. TAG was formed with the ambition of reigning in the intrusive, expanding reach of government which threatens to invade every facet of our lives. Let's put the reins of government in the hands of American citizens; allowing us to once again run our own lives.

TAG focuses on issues at the local, county, and state level. They believe in the principle of subsidiary; that power should be vested in the nearest locality. Our local representatives are much more accountable to us than are those over a thousand miles away in the District of Columbia.

TAG is dedicated to safe guarding individual liberty, protecting personal privacy and property rights, election integrity, safe water, and electing representatives, not bureaucrats, to office!

In this video, Heather Fazio, Executive Director of Texans for Accountable Government, speaks at the Students for Liberty Conference about building community through activism. She shares a chilling story of a young girl who was kicked out of school because she refused to wear an RFID badge that violated her religious beliefs.

Open Carry Texas

Open Carry Texas (OCT)

Open Carry Texas (OCT) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to the safe and legal carry of firearms openly in the state of Texas in accordance with the United States and Texas Constitutions and any applicable laws. "Open Carry" is the name of the organization, but fundamentally, they believe in "Constitutional Carry."

Their purpose is to:

  • Educate all Texans about their right to openly carry rifles, shotguns, and black powder revolvers in a safe manner
  • Condition Texans to feel safe around law-abiding citizens that choose to open carry
  • Encourage our elected officials to pass less restrictive open carry legislation
  • Foster a cooperative relationship with local law enforcement in the furtherance of these goals with an eye towards preventing negative encounters

The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Laws restricting how firearms are are kept or carried is an infringement to this right. Hundreds of thousands of Texans carry concealed, (with an expensive license) but it is currently illegal to openly carry a modern handgun in Texas. The next step towards constitutional carry is legalizing the open carry of sidearms. If you can legally own a gun, you should be able to carry it openly or concealed.

The Solutions Institute

The Solutions Institute (SI)

There are hundreds (if not thousands) of organizations, groups and institutions who would be more than happy to tell you "what" the problem is. When the inevitable question "but how do I fix it?" comes up these same groups either answer "fund us", or "go out and protest, and you can make a difference!" ... and neither one of these answers are even remotely helpful to you or anyone else who wants to change the world, the nation, or their own community.

The Solutions Institute (SI) is a group of dedicated people willing to fill that gap. We are activists, media professionals, IT wizards, networkers, and more, dedicated to helping people change their world.

To do that, we must think outside the box. You'll find weekly blog posts on the finer points of activism, a library of online resources for action, and an expanding repository of short courses in everything from understanding and working with group psychology to managing a Facebook page. Our speakers will Skype, or fly in to your group, and you can get personalized help by just asking us here. In the near future, you'll be able to contact a huge community of activists and network with people interested in your cause.

We do have one rule: good ideas don't require force. Instead of "banning" things, we help you create better alternatives. Instead of passing new laws, we help you find people-based solutions to the problem. Instead of "requiring" people to do things, we help you create educational materials to cut the problem off at its source. Ideas are the true playing field, and we help the best ideas succeed, great ideas flourish, and good ideas become even better.

The Solutions Institute exists to help you. Whether you have an organization of thousands of people, a movement, or just an idea, they can help make changing your world a reality.
